Curved Glass

Pro Arc

Product Details

Pro Arc from Glass Projects offers architects and designers the ability to introduce flowing lines and organic shapes into their building designs through the use of precisely curved glass. This specialised glass is produced by heating flat glass to its softening point and then carefully forming it over or into custom-made moulds to achieve the desired radius and curvature. The cooling process is controlled to ensure structural integrity and optical quality. Pro Arc can be produced as annealed curved glass, or it can be further processed into curved toughened (Pro Tuf) or curved laminated (Pro Lam) glass for enhanced safety and performance.

Key attributes of Pro Arc include:

  • Design Freedom: Enables the creation of unique and visually striking architectural features, moving beyond the limitations of flat glass.

  • Aesthetic Elegance: Adds a sophisticated and contemporary element to facades, interiors, and specialised structures, allowing for distinctive architectural expression in New Zealand projects.

  • Variety of Forms: Can be curved to cylindrical, spherical, or complex three-dimensional shapes, depending on the project requirements and manufacturing capabilities.

  • Integration with Other Glass Types: Pro Arc can be manufactured using various base glass types, including clear, Pro Ultra Clear (low iron), Pro Tint (tinted), or with Pro-E Range (Low-E) coatings applied before curving (subject to coating type compatibility with the curving process).

  • Safety & Strength Options: Can be toughened after curving for increased mechanical strength and safety, or laminated by bonding two or more curved lites together for superior safety, security, or acoustic performance.

Glass Projects specifies Pro Arc for distinctive architectural applications where curved glazed elements are integral to the design vision, creating memorable and high-impact spaces.

  • Curved Facades & Curtain Walls: Creating undulating or rounded building envelopes that stand out.

  • Revolving Doors & Entrances: Providing elegant and functional curved glass for main entryways.

  • Curved Shopfronts & Display Cases: Enhancing retail aesthetics and product presentation.

  • Internal Partitions & Screens: Introducing soft lines and unique spatial divisions in offices and high-end interiors.

  • Curved Balustrades & Staircases: Adding a sculptural quality to safety barriers and stair enclosures.

  • Skylights & Canopies: Designing distinctive overhead glazing features with flowing forms.

  • Shower Enclosures: Creating custom, elegantly curved shower screens for luxury bathrooms.

  • Architectural Features: Used in bespoke applications such as curved lift shafts, feature windows, and art installations.

The specification and installation of Pro Arc require meticulous planning and precision. Glass Projects provides expert consultation from the early design stages, advising on achievable radii, glass types, processing options, and structural considerations to ensure the successful realisation of curved glass concepts in New Zealand.
