Pro Print
Pro Print from Glass Projects utilises ceramic frit technology to create durable, permanent designs, patterns, or colours on glass surfaces. This process involves applying specially formulated ceramic-based inks or paints to the glass, typically through screen printing for repetitive patterns or digital printing for intricate, custom graphics. Following application, the glass is passed through a toughening furnace. During this heat treatment, the ceramic frit fuses permanently to the glass surface, becoming an integral part of the glass itself. This results in an exceptionally resilient and long-lasting finish.
Key attributes of Pro Print include:
Exceptional Durability: The fused ceramic frit is highly resistant to scratching, abrasion, chemical attack, and UV degradation, ensuring the design remains vibrant and intact for the lifespan of the glass.
Design Versatility: Offers extensive creative freedom, allowing for the application of solid opaque colours (ideal for spandrel panels), translucent colours, intricate patterns, gradients, text, and even photographic imagery.
Inherent Safety: The manufacturing process for Pro Print inherently involves toughening the glass, meaning the final product is a toughened safety glass (Pro Tuf), significantly stronger than ordinary annealed glass.
Solar Control & Glare Reduction: Depending on the coverage, pattern density, and colour of the frit, Pro Print can effectively reduce solar heat gain (SHGC) and control glare, contributing to improved building energy performance and occupant comfort.
Privacy & Light Modulation: Enables the creation of varying levels of opacity or translucency, offering privacy while still allowing diffused natural light to enter a space.
Glass Projects specifies Pro Print for a wide range of architectural and decorative applications throughout New Zealand, where aesthetics, durability, and often functional performance (like solar control or privacy) are key requirements.
Facades & Curtain Walls: Extensively used for spandrel panels to conceal structural elements, and for vision glass areas incorporating patterns or designs for aesthetic enhancement or solar control.
Glazed Partitions & Doors: Ideal for branding, creating privacy screens, or adding decorative elements in commercial offices, retail spaces, and high-end interiors.
Glazed Balustrades: Can be used to create opaque or patterned infill panels, combining safety with unique design features.
Overhead Glazing: Suitable for canopies and glazed roofs to provide shading patterns and visual interest (as toughened safety glass).
Interior Wall Cladding & Splashbacks: Offers a durable, easy-to-clean, and highly customisable decorative surface for kitchens, bathrooms, and feature walls.
Signage & Wayfinding: Provides a premium and weather-resistant solution for corporate branding and informational signage.
Glass Projects collaborates with architects and designers to translate their vision into precisely executed Pro Print applications, ensuring the highest quality from design consultation to final installation.
